Avenue almost ruined my wedding. I booked The Wellborn over a year in advance. It was the first and only
venue we looked at and the untraditional vibe was so perfect. Additionally I was impressed that Avenue offered complementary planning and coordination with every client according to their website. Being a travel nurse I didn’t want the added stress of doing everything myself. This was also a second marriage for both of us so we were way more laid back about things. However we received no help. I was never even asked what my vision was or given preferred vendor information. They did nothing to help us plan. I found and coordinated all my vendors myself working 4-5 nights a week away from home. The venue had also rebranded and changed their menu/look completely a year after we signed and I had to find out on the venue’s Instagram. No one from Avenue reached out to say things were changing or to see if we would still want our wedding there. The worst part was for the last 3 months before the wedding I reached out over and over to finalize details and never got direct answers. I thought it strange that 3 different event managers were assigned to us throughout the year but the only thing they had done for us was draw up a contract and take our payments. It got to the point that we had only 3 weeks left and we hadn’t even tasted or picked our food selections let alone have details for our vendors. My emails and voicemails were left ignored. I never once spoke to the “venue relations manager” so I don’t know how she could coordinate anything for us without knowing us. My vendors were getting nervous that I didn’t have basic logistics finalized and my stress level was over the top. Finally I reached out to our venue directly begging for help to get things done. They jumped right in to help us and saved the day! Avenue advertises vendor management on their website but didn’t ask for a vendor list until 9 days before the event and then 8 days out sent emails asking for vendors insurance. This email included incorrect details about our day and even cited that they were “working closely with our coordinator” which is a joke. My coordinator did their jobs for them. Then the miscommunication was insane. Avenue would tell us one thing and the venue would say something else. It got to the point that I asked that Avenue not even be present on the day of. How could I trust them to “make sure our day is perfect” if they new literally nothing about our day?! Thank god I hired our officiant to do day-of coordination for us because my wedding would have been a disaster if it had been left up to Avenue. Between our officiant and the Wellborn staff, they saved our wedding and it turned out beyond perfect. It’s odd to me that Avenue has only good reviews when there were at least 2 other brides I knew of having similar experiences. I would never work with Avenue again. I’m not sure where the root of the problems lie but the client is the one hurt at the end of the day.
