Camp Niantic was visited by my tenth grade daughter who is a part of Civil Air Patrol and went as a part of their week long encampment. She had a very fulfilling week there and looks forward to potentially returning next year.

Military post managed by the Connecticut Army National Guard. It is used for Army MOS training, officer training, administration, and monthly weekend drill training. Post well maintained with friendly full time staff. There is very low cost hotel accommodations available on post for those with military ID's or with identification proving they are retired military. May be a useful option if traveling in the area. I tried to check into my room after hours, followed the instructions, went where I was supposed to go, and the duty officer wasn't there. I had to drive 40 miles to stay the night someplace at midnight, just so I can drive back the next morning to start training.

PX here is weak. They don't stock much besides some finger foods, drinks, a few uniform parts, and come cool guy gear. Uncle Sam needs to invest more money into it.
