My daughter-in-law and I recently returned from a trip to Amsterdam, The Netherlands, planned by Faraway Places Travel. We found ourselves in a beautiful hotel in the heart of Amsterdam and each excursion planned, fit perfectly into the day’s schedule. There was a great balance of ‘free time’ to sightsee and explore; to having tickets for highly coveted places…i.e. “The Anne Frank House” and the “Van Gogh Museum,” all planned perfectly by Anneke Peterson.

We were so well informed about everything, that there was very little angst, which is a MUST when traveling, especially abroad! Anneke even had us do a “dry run” before we left, to make sure we had all the necessary apps on our phones, contact info, as well as links to all the maps and descriptions of our places of interest. Even when we missed the bus for one of our tours, Anneke was available to help us navigate through it and we caught up with the tour, much to the amazement of the tour guide!

I don’t think either of us will ever plan a trip “on our own” after this experience! Anneke was a delight to work with and the end result was an ENJOYABLE trip of a lifetime! Fondly, Anita and Amanda

Anneke is awesome! She went above and beyond in so many ways and we had one of the best vacations yet. She knows Garden of the Gods inside and out and took us where we wouldn't have gotten to go without her! She's educated on conditions, peak times, terrain, necessary gear and and other things we would have never even thought about. Plus she's a very kind hearted person. Won't stay anywhere else when we come back!!

I booked an early morning hike with Anneke on the day after dropping my first born child off to university in southern Colorado. I knew that the combination of the beauty of the Garden of the Gods and physical movement would be a great way to help with all the emotions that had gotten stirred from the trip. It was PERFECT! Anneke is lovely and we immediately hit it off. Her extensive knowledge of the area as well as having a bottle of water and paleo breakfast bar at the ready was much appreciated! I did a sunrise hike with Anneke and she showed me the most beautiful places in the Garden of the Gods. She was well prepared with lots of blankets for unseasonably chilly morning. She was great with accommodating my physical limitations due to hip problems. She’s fun & easy to talk to but also respected my quiet enjoyment of the gorgeous sunrise. Anneke’s walking with light tour at the Garden of the Gods was nothing short of inspirational! I had seen pictures but still underestimated their beauty and how calming the effect being in such a miracle of nature would have. Anneke was the perfect guide, we were sedentary city girls and had no hiking experience but we’re able to do the hike just fine in sneakers and Anneke, always stopped when she felt we might be breathing too heavy or needed a water break. We learned so much but also had time to just take it all in. . The sunrise mimosas are beauty meets luxury meets nature at its finest. Please, wake up early and experience this, you can take a nap when you get back! We can’t thank Anneke enough for the adventure, beauty and kindness. Book this tour, you won’t regret it!

Anneke set up a beautiful mimosa and snack picnic and was so delightful to chat with as we watched the sun rise. Our hike was the perfect distance and elevation for me (I let her know ahead of time I was feeling out of shape after covid), and I believe she has options for different levels. I was happy to get outside and get moving with such a beautiful environment. Starting early really helped us miss the crowds which started showing up just as we ended.

Anneke was such a gem. We hiked for about two hours in Garden of the Gods, and was very informative with every spot we went to! I just graduated college and she brought a bottle of champagne for popping to celebrate. You can choose your level of difficulty and she will find the right trails. She was wonderful to chat with while hiking the grounds and she has such an eye for a great photo! If I’m ever back in the area, I would tour with her again.
