The valet parking was a gated lot during the First Friday event and we did not have any trouble, other than it being busy in the area because of the event. The rooms were a good size and the shower was great in my opinion. The bed was pretty comfy and the ac worked well. The staff were helpful and friendly.

Horrible experience, they charge $250 for a deposit on top of $41 to park. I came on my husband’s birthday, I was not aware of all the fees. I told the front desk to cancel the booking, now there refusing to give me my money back!!!!!!!!!!! Worst experience ever, I’m calling the better business bureau to report them. I didn’t stay there, was not told at the front desk anything. I’m calling Marriott customer service as well, this is ridiculous. Don’t waste your money or time, in a ghetto neighborhood so you have to pay for parking. Nothing like the pictures online, total waste. No customer service at all, this place is horrible!!!!

The extremely rude DEI hire manager refused to help me in any way after the hotel illegally held my deposit for 30 days instead of the 5 to 7 business. She refused to issue a receipt or a letter proving the balance is 0 while being as rude and uneducated as humanly possible. i had to contact Marriott just to get my deposit back despite the room being spotless when i left. Do not stay here. They will hold $200 for 30 days illegally while lieing to you and refusing to help you. There low hiring standards do not deserve your money.

. I am absolutely distraught with the ambience here. The atmosphere is so dull and lifeless—it feels more like a funeral or a quiet library on a Saturday night rather than a place to relax and enjoy. There’s no energy, no vibrancy, and no welcoming vibe whatsoever. If you’re looking for a place to have a good time or feel uplifted, this is definitely not it. Extremely disappointing.

Comfy room and bed! They offer one free drink ticket which is good for a beer or a glass of wine from the bar. The espresso machine was out of order. No bathroom tub.

I've now stayed here twice as I've come into town for business at Berkeley and found the Oakland Moxy relatively inexpensive and easy to travel back and forth to the UC Campus.

Today I realized that they held my deposit after a few weeks. I called in to check and was put on hold for 30 minutes before the call hung up. I called back, and after being put on hold multiple times again, they claimed towels were damaged.

"The towels had marks on them," I was told.

I can't speak to the condition of the towels that were used once, by me, alone, one night, because it was all so ordinary that I literally do not remember. I ate dinner and went to bed. What I can speak to is the fact that if you're used to traveling, especially for business, you're used to a hotel standard of operation. For good or bad, Moxy is not standard. I've accidentally arrived home with a hotel towel before and not been charged. But this place needs to nickel and dime, so they do. And they don't care if you feel it.

It's a lesson learned, but if I had read a review that said that the hotel only serves microwave snacks, faces a parking lot, nickel and dimes you on everything they can, and has a room the size of a doormat that will force you to clean up using the dumb towels if you try to eat inside of it, I wouldn't have stayed here. I would have asked you if it was a Best Western.

One step above a hostel. Small cramped rooms with a joke of a mattress (straight from a dorm room, it looked like). And they really need to provide a parking solution. For some reason the food/bev menu is not available on the app and it’s a very user-hostile experience trying to read it on the display above the bar that cycles through the thing slowly one page at a time. Who thought that was a good idea?

I visited Oakland for three days and this was a great place to stay. Staff was friendly, check-in was easy, location is convenient and I felt safe. I appreciated the boutique set-up with vibrant colors and cocktail bar downstairs. Yes, rooms are on the small side but that didn’t bother me as solo traveler. Would definitely stay here again!
