dogs are not allowed

I love this park. It’s stunning. I’m not sure why the Google listing says dogs are allowed when they are not (at least not on the trails - maybe in campgrounds?)

The drive in is beautiful and there are a number of trails to pick from. The observatory has a lot of classes and events throughout the year.

I’ve never camped here.

Ample grounds to hike and roam around or a perfect place to sit back and relax. Get a campsite so you can make your stay your ideal time. Visit the observatory and welcome center. Both have great treats for you and your family!

Beautiful, green, serene, and refreshing air and most peaceful hike in a misty winter afternoon. Rangers were friendly, welcoming and helpful. Dogs on leash were allowed on paved road. Perfect place for a leisurely hike. Hope to come camping and participate in the programmed guided hikes and wildflowers tour. And observatory program.

I love this park but the trails at the top, especially Brushy Peaks, have little to no shade and a plethora of poison oak. The hills along the ridge are short but steep. If you hike this on a hot day bring lots of water. The sun-baked trails, including fire roads, are very kitty-littery and can be challenging descents if you are not agile or have weak knees. Nevertheless the views are fabulous and the trails not at all crowded.

Great people, great camping, family environment. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, the campground is well maintained, and the bathrooms are extremely clean! We have always enjoyed our stay!
We stayed in glamping tent #30. Slept like babies and woke up to a beautiful landscape!

Nice State Park, a little out of the way, but good hikes, parking spaces are in high demand. Staff is friendly, say hello to Tom at the entry booth.

Things are still green, but very sparse on wildflowers, in places water on the hiking trails. The streams are still flowing, and several birds were out, including raptors, jays, wild turkeys.

Varied choices in hiking trails, and camping is available with reservations recommended due to start of the busy season. Current fire danger level is green.
