I fell in love with the 4-R Ranch while attending my cousin's wedding there a few years ago. My new husband and I had been out for a couple more events since then and the decision to host our wedding there last weekend was a no brainer! Patti, Tom, Cass, and Chase ensured that every single aspect of the wedding from setup to tear down went smoothly and without incident. Our extended families and friends from as far as Texas, Georgia, and Vermont had an absolute blast and we received several comments from our guests on how beautiful and unique the venue was. I wouldn't change a thing about our special day at the 4-R Ranch and Cattle Co. and look forward to attending more events there in the future!

We had the absolute best time at Tom and Patti's ranch! The reviews saying they treat you like family are absolutely right. The most down to earth, kind, sweet couple you will ever meet! They will legitimately be getting a Christmas card from us every year.

I found the ranch because my husband is an elk hunter and we wanted to have a home base near Helena. We traveled with our four younger kids and two dogs. We found the location convenient to Helena to shop and go to restaurants (I reviewed quite a few if you are interested). It took about 20 minutes to get to East Helena via gravel, and about 25 to Montana City via gravel. Yes gravel, if you don't like gravel, stick with the Hilton, Howard.

Patti tells you when you book that it is "literally a ranch, like with the cattle..." and she is definitely right, which we LOVED. Cattle mooing, horses, cats, deer, all of it was fantastic. You drive in through a gate and go past corrals that sometimes-had cattle in them right by the house. Our kids and dogs thought that was the coolest.

THE VIEWS! Why haven't I mentioned that?! Pictures cannot do it justice. You are surrounded by mountains, big and beautiful ones. Just past the property is the Lewis and Clark Helena State Forest with an abundance of trails and sites to see. We brought our side by side with and enjoyed taking it through area.

The house is absolutely adorable. It is the original house for the ranch, but they re-did the inside to add more modern amenities like a large kitchen with electric oven, microwave, and a large fridge. I found the kitchen to be much larger than I assumed from the photos. It was appointed with everything I needed to cook meals for my family for the month that we stayed. The bedrooms were small as one would expect, but we were outside enjoying the two picnic tables most of the time. The beds were comfortable and there were plug in strips to charge all of your devices. My husband brought a table to use as a desk in the front bedroom and it worked great. Couldn't beat the office view! We used our Starlink for internet, but Verizon did work okay there.

The living room is very nice with beautiful wood floors and a wood burning stove. We did have fires a few nights and it warmed the place up nicely. They provided firewood for both the firepit and indoor wood burning stove. We were surprised to see there was a TV and radio and DVD's in the living room as well. The TV even picked up local channels! The kids loved the piano and Patti even brought a couple more music books for them! So sweet! I also really enjoyed the front screen porch. It had lots of seating and fantastic views.

The yard is where we spent most of our time. It had lush green grass and was fenced, which was helpful with the dogs. The fence was a livestock style fence, so the dogs could sneak under if they got a wild hair.

Our stay was during September and October where we got to experience summer, winter, spring, and fall all within days of each other. The sun was intense on the warm days (not complaining), but a quick drive to the creek cooled us off quickly. The house stayed really cool, did not need an AC unit. On the cooler days, the fire worked great, and they do have a heater and space heaters as well. We received snow while we were there, and that was absolutely stunning.

Overall, a fantastic experience and we will be back. Couldn't recommend more. Thanks for sharing your ranch with us, Tom and Patti, we were loved being honorary ranchers for the month. All the best, the Luthers. Oh, and the kids say "HI KIMBER!!!" ha
